Workshop on Inclusiveness in Product Safety - European Commission

2025.01.27.

Are you a product designer or manufacturer looking to ensure your products are
inclusive and safe?

Express your interest in joining the upcoming in-person workshop titled “Inclusiveness in Product Safety: Ensuring Safe Products for All”. This event will be held in person on 10 March 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:45 PM at the European Commission premises in Brussels.
The General Product Safety Regulation includes a legal obligation for economic operators to consider in the assessment of the safety of a product the categories of consumers, including those in a vulnerable position who will be using the product. If this legal obligation resonates with your business practice and you produce or design
products that fall into the scope of the GPSR, we encourage you to express your interest!

The categories included in the GPSR include among others:

• Childcare articles and nursery products
• Home furnishings and related products
• Clothing and textiles
• Sports and recreational equipment
• Health and beauty products...and more!

The workshop aims to raise awareness about the importance of inclusiveness in product safety and to share best practices and discuss the application of legal obligations under the GPSR to ensure that products are safe for all consumers.

Specifically, the workshop will examine:

• Best practices for inclusive product design and risk assessments.
• How to recognize and address biases and blind spots in product design
regarding consumers in vulnerable positions.
• How to identify vulnerabilities faced by consumers and provide tools and
approaches to ensure product safety for all.

Express your interest in attending by 30 January 2025 by contacting the EY team using the following functional mailbox: gpsr@be.ey.com.

Please specify the following: the product category included in GPSR, type of specific products you
design or manufacture and how they address inclusiveness and product safety, your role in the company and where your company is based. We will only consider companies based within the EU at this time.
